Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and safety-conscious Commercial Driver Class B with Automatic Dumptruck certification to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating various commercial trucks, including dump trucks and roll-off trucks, to transport waste materials efficiently and securely. Your expertise in heavy vehicle operation, adherence to traffic laws, and commitment to safety will ensure smooth route execution and exceptional service delivery. Duties Safely operate Class B commercial trucks with automatic transmissions, including dump trucks, roll-off trucks, front loader trucks, and rear loader trucks. Load and unload waste materials using front-end loaders or other mechanical equipment while adhering to safety protocols. Drive assigned routes in accordance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and state transportation laws, ensuring timely pickups and drop-offs. Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, focusing on air brake systems, mechanical components, and load security. Maintain accurate logs of mileage, cargo weight, route details, and inspection reports in compliance with hazardous materials regulations and traffic laws. Load waste containers onto trucks safely and securely; ensure proper handling of hazardous materials if applicable. Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members to coordinate route activities and address any issues promptly. Follow all safety protocols during outdoor work activities, heavy lifting tasks, and when operating heavy machinery such as front loaders or roll-off systems. Ensure compliance with municipal waste management standards while providing excellent customer service by addressing customer inquiries professionally. Experience Proven experience operating commercial trucks such as dump trucks, garbage trucks (front loader or rear loader), or roll-off trucks. Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B with an automatic transmission endorsement required; additional certifications for air brake systems preferred. Solid knowledge of traffic laws, DOT regulations, state transportation rules, and hazardous materials regulations applicable to waste hauling. Demonstrated ability to perform heavy lifting safely during waste collection or container handling tasks. Mechanical knowledge of truck systems to assist with basic troubleshooting and maintenance checks. Outdoor work experience in varying weather conditions is highly desirable. Prior experience in solid waste management or municipal waste collection is a plus but not mandatory—training will be provided for the right candidate.
