We are seeking a dedicated CDL Rack Truck Driver to join our logistics team, responsible for safely transporting cargo using specialized rack trucks across various routes and will be home weekly with 2 overnight stays Monday - Friday and home on weekends. This role requires adherence to all safety and transportation regulations, including FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong driving skills, experience with refrigerated trailers, and a commitment to efficient delivery operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operate a company rack truck safely and efficiently to transport glass, mirrors, and related products. Perform local and regional deliveries as assigned. Safely load, secure, transport, and unload glass and other products. Inspect loads to ensure products are properly secured before leaving the facility. Verify customer orders, delivery paperwork, quantities, and product condition. Handle glass and mirror products carefully to prevent damage during transportation and delivery. Assist with loading and unloading products when required. Follow designated delivery routes and schedules. Obtain required customer signatures and delivery documentation. Report damaged, missing, or incorrect products to the appropriate supervisor. Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Maintain accurate driver logs and other required transportation records. Comply with DOT regulations, company safety policies, and applicable state and federal laws. Maintain the cleanliness and general condition of the assigned truck. Report vehicle maintenance or safety concerns promptly. Communicate professionally with customers, dispatchers, warehouse personnel, and management. Represent Virginia Glass & Mirror professionally while making customer deliveries. Perform other duties as assigned. Safety Responsibilities Follow all company safety policies and procedures. Use appropriate personal protective equipment when handling glass and related materials. Follow proper procedures for lifting, securing, loading, and unloading glass products. Maintain awareness of surrounding personnel, equipment, and traffic while operating the vehicle. Immediately report accidents, injuries, property damage, and unsafe conditions. Qualifications Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) , as required for the assigned vehicle. Acceptable driving record. Current DOT medical certification, when required. Ability to meet all applicable DOT requirements. Previous commercial driving experience preferred. Experience transporting glass, building materials, or other fragile products is a plus. Ability to safely lift, carry, and maneuver products as required. Ability to read and understand delivery documents and instructions. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. Dependable attendance and punctuality. Good communication and customer-service skills. Physical Requirements Ability to sit and operate a commercial vehicle for extended periods. Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and climb. Ability to safely lift and move materials as required by the position. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to safely handle glass and other materials using established company procedures. Work Environment This position involves working in a manufacturing and distribution environment as well as traveling to customer locations. The driver may be exposed to varying weather conditions, road and traffic hazards, warehouse equipment, and the normal conditions associated with handling and transporting glass products.
