Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and safety-conscious Lowboy Driver for a seasonal position. We are really busy for about a month, then will be more part time. In this role, you will be responsible for transporting heavy equipment and oversized loads using our lowboy trailer. Your expertise in truck driving, route planning, and cargo handling will ensure timely and secure deliveries across various over-the-road (OTR) routes. Responsibilities Operate lowboy trailers to transport heavy machinery, construction equipment, and oversized freight safely and efficiently across designated routes. Plan routes using GPS navigation systems to optimize delivery times Load and unload heavy off-rosd equipment Maintain accurate documentation of shipments, including delivery logs, load manifests, and inspection reports in accordance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the tractor-trailer, checking for mechanical issues, safety hazards, and proper load securement. Follow all safety protocols related to hazardous materials regulations and dangerous goods handling Skills Proven experience operating tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or refrigerated trailers in a commercial truck driving environment. Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT compliance, hazard communication standards, and hazardous materials regulations. Skilled in route driving using GPS navigation tools for efficient delivery planning across OTR routes. Ability to load & unload freight safely using manual handling techniques while adhering to logistics cargo handling standards. Experience with truck loading and unloading procedures for freight including dangerous goods or hazardous materials when necessary. Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with endorsements relevant to lowboy operations; manual transmission experience preferred. Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety, compliance with DOT regulations, and hazard awareness during transportation.
