Position Description At JH Kelly , we're seeking a reliable, safety-focused CDL Driver who thrives on delivering results, maintaining professionalism, and ensuring the timely and damage-free transport of freight and equipment. We need a CDL Driver who takes initiative, prioritizes safety, and brings a positive, problem-solving mindset to every task. You're detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and excel at time management, ensuring deliveries and pickups are completed efficiently and professionally. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, communicate effectively, and remain calm under pressure. This role is based in Longview, WA, supporting job sites across our regional operations. The selected candidate must pass a pre-employment MVR screening. Here's a deeper dive into what you'll take on: Delivery & Logistics Load and unload semi-trucks, flatbeds, pickup trucks, and box trucks in the local region. Deliver and pick up tools and heavy equipment from vendors and job sites. Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and compliance. Equipment Support & Maintenance Communicate with the Fleet mechanic shop to assist with diagnosis, service, and repair of JH Kelly equipment and vehicles. Maintain a clean, organized work area, including the service truck and tools/equipment yard. Safety & Compliance Adhere strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, including hours of service, vehicle inspections, and safety protocols. Comply with pre-employment and ongoing DOT-mandated drug and alcohol testing requirements. Maintain a clean driving record and prioritize safe driving practices. Team Collaboration Build proactive, positive relationships with JH Kelly's shop and field craft personnel, management, and project teams. Foster strong connections with customer representatives, vendors, and subcontractors to support seamless operations.
Position Requirements What You Bring Experience:
Minimum 1 year of CDL driving experience, with familiarity operating forklifts.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Skills:
Safe driving habits with strict adherence to all road laws and DOT regulations. Basic knowledge of diesel/gas engine repairs and related components. Strong time management, communication, and collaborative skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Mindset:
Detail-oriented, reliable, and adaptable, with a commitment to safety, teamwork, and professionalism.
Requirements:
Valid Washington State Class A CDL with a clean driving record. The selected candidate must pass a pre-employment MVR screening. Physical Requirements This role requires operating commercial vehicles safely for extended periods, navigating various road and weather conditions, and maneuvering in tight spaces. You'll need to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds, couple/uncouple trailers, secure loads, and perform vehicle inspections. Good vision, hearing, and hand-eye coordination are essential, along with adherence to safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment.
