Position Overview Bains Towing & Recovery is seeking an experienced Class A CDL Day Cab Driver to support our transportation and towing operations. This position is responsible for safely operating Class A commercial vehicles while transporting trailers, equipment, and other assets between customer locations, company facilities, job sites, and designated destinations. The ideal candidate is a safety-focused, dependable professional who is comfortable maneuvering commercial equipment, connecting and disconnecting trailers, performing pre-trip inspections, and working in a towing and recovery environment. This is not a traditional over-the-road position . Drivers will primarily operate day cab equipment and perform local and regional transportation assignments. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Safely operate Class A CDL day cab trucks and associated trailers. Transport trailers, vehicles, equipment, and other company or customer assets. Connect, disconnect, inspect, and secure trailers and equipment. Safely maneuver trailers in tight spaces, yards, loading areas, job sites, and customer locations. Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned equipment. Verify trailer connections, fifth-wheel engagement, airlines, electrical connections, brakes, tires, lights, and safety equipment. Properly secure loads and equipment in accordance with applicable regulations and company procedures. Safely load, unload, position, and transport trailers and equipment when required. Assist with towing and recovery operations when appropriate and within the driver's training and qualifications. Transport equipment between company locations, customers, repair facilities, job sites, and other designated destinations. Maintain accurate transportation and job documentation. Communicate effectively with operations personnel regarding equipment movement, delivery status, delays, and any issues encountered. Maintain assigned truck and equipment in a clean, safe, and professional condition. Immediately report mechanical issues, equipment damage, safety concerns, or transportation incidents. Follow all applicable
FMCSA/DOT
regulations and company safety policies. Maintain a professional appearance and courteous conduct when interacting with customers, vendors, and the public. Perform other transportation, towing, and operational duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Valid Class A CDL . Clean and acceptable motor vehicle record. Ability to safely operate a Class A day cab and trailer combination. Demonstrated ability to back and maneuver trailers safely. Working knowledge of commercial vehicle safety procedures. Ability to perform required pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Ability to safely connect and disconnect trailers. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Reliable attendance and dependable work ethic. Ability to communicate effectively with operations personnel and customers. Ability to pass applicable DOT requirements. Preferred Previous experience with towing, recovery, heavy-duty transportation, equipment transport, or commercial trucking. Experience operating day cabs, tractor-trailers, lowboys, flatbeds, or specialized trailers. Experience maneuvering equipment in confined areas and job sites. Knowledge of heavy-duty trucks and trailers. Previous experience in a 24/7 transportation, towing, roadside, or fleet environment. Physical Requirements Ability to safely enter and exit commercial trucks and trailers. Ability to climb, bend, stoop, kneel, and work around heavy equipment. Ability to inspect and connect trailer equipment. Ability to handle equipment and materials associated with transportation and towing operations. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to sit and operate a commercial vehicle for extended periods. Ability to respond to operational needs in a fast-paced environment. Safety & Compliance Safety is a fundamental responsibility of this position. The driver is expected to operate all equipment in a safe and responsible manner and comply with applicable DOT, FMCSA, state, and company requirements . Drivers are expected to immediately report accidents, incidents, equipment defects, unsafe conditions, or other issues that may affect the safe operation of company equipment.
