Job Description
Summary:
The CDL Truck Driver, or Transporter, is responsible for transporting our products from one location to another. Their job duties include loading their vehicles, abiding by traffic laws and ensuring safe unloading and delivery at their destination. WWP Transportation was built with the overall vision of providing consistency, convenience, security, and professionalism to our industry.Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Long distance driving at times
- Communicating and coordinating with dispatchers.
- Obeying and following applicable traffic laws.
- Maintaining a detailed log of working hours in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Ensuring any, mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving.
- Planning routes and meeting delivery schedules.
- Complying with truck driving rules and regulations.
- Reporting defects, accidents, and violations.
- Performing daily maintenance of truck.
- Interacting with customers in a professional manner.
- Recording cargo deliveries.
- Verifying loads for accuracy.
- Comply with all safe quality foods (SQF), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), and Good Manufacturing Process (GMP) and allergen awareness standards.
- Work in a safe and productive manner.
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements :
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Commercial driver license (CDL) without restrictions that has tanker and air brake endorsement, or willing to obtain.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, to be familiar with not just traffic laws but rules regarding how often you are required to rest, maximum miles driven and the like.
- Physical fitness, since truck drivers are required to pass a physical exam every two years.
- Good hand-eye coordination to maintain fast reaction time on the roads.
- Visual and hearing acuity.
- Food plant experience a plus.
- Must be dependable and have good attendance.
- Must be able to verbally communicate, understand and write in the English language.
- Pre-employment drug screening.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, and walk for prolonged periods.
