SUMMARY The CDL Driver / Yard Technician is responsible for safely transporting precast concrete panels, materials, and equipment between Products yards and local jobsites while also supporting daily yard operations. This position requires a safety-conscious, dependable, and versatile individual who can effectively balance commercial driving responsibilities with hands-on yard duties.

Job Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In addition to the performance expectations listed above, the CDL Driver / Yard Technician will: Transport precast concrete panels, materials, and equipment between Products yards and local jobsites. Complete local deliveries and material transfers as assigned. Assist with the loading, securing, transportation, and unloading of precast concrete panels and other materials. Perform routine truck and trailer inspections. Maintain required driver and transportation documentation. Operate forklifts and other authorized yard equipment. Move and organize materials and products throughout the yard. Assist yard personnel with panel and material handling. Maintain clean trucks, equipment, work areas, and yard spaces. Perform other duties as assigned based on operational needs.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Maintains a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and a driving record that meets company and insurance requirements. Safely operates both manual and automatic transmission trucks. Demonstrates the knowledge and ability necessary to safely transport precast concrete panels, materials, and equipment. Understands and follows proper procedures for securing panels and other loads before transportation. Performs required pre-trip and post-trip inspections and identifies potential vehicle or equipment concerns. Understands applicable DOT requirements, traffic laws, and company transportation procedures. Safely operates forklifts and other authorized yard equipment or successfully completes required training. Learns yard procedures, material locations, equipment use, and panel-handling processes. Demonstrates sound judgment when driving, moving materials, operating equipment, and working around suspended or moving loads. Listens to and follows directions from supervisors and other authorized personnel. Asks questions when necessary to ensure instructions and expectations are clearly understood. Continually works to improve job knowledge and skills. QUALITY Ensures panels, materials, and equipment are transported and handled in a manner that prevents damage. Verifies that loads are properly positioned and secured before moving or transporting them. Completes assigned deliveries and yard tasks accurately and according to standards. Properly organizes and stores materials, equipment, and products in designated yard locations. Takes pride in maintaining company trucks, equipment, and yard areas. Completes assigned work thoroughly without requiring repeated reminders. Immediately communicates concerns regarding damaged panels, materials, equipment, or loads. Follows instructions and established procedures for loading, unloading, material movement, and transportation. Identifies opportunities to improve transportation, material handling, or yard operations and communicates suggestions when appropriate.

EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE & OPERATION

Safely operates company trucks and follows all applicable laws, DOT regulations, and company requirements. Performs required inspections of trucks, trailers, and other equipment before and after use. Reports mechanical problems, damage, safety concerns, or maintenance needs promptly. Operates forklifts and other authorized yard equipment safely and according to training. Assists with loading and unloading panels and materials using appropriate equipment and procedures. Ensures panels and materials are properly strapped, secured, and stable before transporting them within the yard or on public roadways. Maintains trucks, trailers, forklifts, and other assigned equipment in good working condition. Keeps truck and tractor cab interiors clean and organized. Keeps windows, mirrors, lights, and other visibility-related areas clean for safe operation. Uses company equipment responsibly and helps prevent unnecessary damage or excessive wear. Completes required vehicle and equipment documentation accurately. SAFETY Follows all safety policies and procedures at all times. Complies with applicable DOT regulations, traffic laws, and commercial driving requirements. Uses job knowledge and training to recognize and address potential safety hazards. Wears all required personal protective equipment (PPE) while working in the yard, production areas, and jobsites. Properly secures panels and materials before moving them, including when transporting materials within company yards. Inspects loads before transportation to ensure they are stable and safely secured. Maintains awareness of pedestrians, forklifts, cranes, Mi-Jacks, suspended panels, trucks, and other equipment operating in the yard. Follows established procedures when assisting around cranes, rigging operations, and moving or suspended panels. Maintains safe speeds and driving practices within company yards and on public roadways. Immediately reports accidents, injuries, unsafe conditions, equipment damage, and other safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor. Never compromises safety for speed or convenience. Demonstrates safe work practices and sets a positive example for coworkers. Contributes fairly to the workload and supports department and company goals. Treats coworkers, customers, vendors, and others professionally and respectfully.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Valid Class A CDL . Driving record that meets company and insurance requirements. Ability to safely operate both manual and automatic transmission trucks. Ability to meet applicable DOT requirements for commercial drivers. Ability to understand and follow safety procedures and instructions. Ability to safely secure loads and perform required vehicle inspections. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. Dependable, punctual, and willing to assist with both driving and yard responsibilities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Previous commercial driving experience. Previous experience transporting precast concrete, construction materials, or other large/heavy loads. Previous yard, construction, manufacturing, or material-handling experience. Forklift or other material-handling equipment experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The employee must be able to: Frequently enter and exit trucks and other equipment. Sit for extended periods while driving. Stand and walk for extended periods while performing yard duties. Wear required PPE and safely perform duties in an active manufacturing and yard environment.

Pay:

$27.00 - $30.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
