Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and dependable Maintenance Route Driver to join our team! In this vital role, you will be responsible for operating various commercial trucks, including front loader, rear loader, and roll-off trucks, to efficiently collect and transport waste materials across designated routes. Your expertise in safe driving practices, mechanical knowledge, and adherence to safety regulations will ensure smooth operations while providing excellent service to our community. Responsibilities Safely operate different types of commercial trucks such as front loader, rear loader, and roll-off trucks, following all traffic laws and safety protocols. Load and unload waste materials efficiently using appropriate equipment like front-end loaders or manual methods. Drive assigned routes confidently while adhering to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, state transportation laws, and hazardous materials regulations when applicable. Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after shifts to identify mechanical issues; perform basic maintenance or report repairs needed. Maintain accurate logs of daily routes, loads, and disposal activities; complete incident reports when necessary. Interact professionally with customers during pickups, addressing questions or concerns with excellent customer service skills. Follow safety procedures diligently during outdoor work, heavy lifting, and when handling hazardous materials or waste. Requirements Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record; experience with manual transmission preferred. Proven experience operating front loader trucks, rear loader trucks, or roll-off trucks in municipal waste management or solid waste collection. Strong knowledge of traffic laws, DOT regulations, air brake systems, and hazardous materials handling. Mechanical aptitude for basic truck maintenance and troubleshooting mechanical issues. Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical tasks outdoors in various weather conditions. Excellent driving skills with defensive driving training or certification preferred.
