Stop! There is a new opportunity for you at the City of Moreno Valley. The Public Works Department is currently hiring for one (1) Traffic Signal Technician.

Full-Time Schedule:
T his position will be on a 4/10 schedule with Mondays off.

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Traffic Signal Technician plays a critical role in maintaining the City's traffic control infrastructure, ensuring safe and efficient roadway operations. This position involves the installation, testing, calibration, maintenance, and repair of electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical traffic signal and lighting equipment. Working under general supervision, the technician troubleshoots malfunctions, inspects signal components, and ensures compliance with City and Caltrans standards. The technician must exercise independent judgment and technical expertise to keep traffic systems functioning properly, contributing to the overall safety and mobility of the community. IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented and technically skilled professional with a strong understanding of electrical and electronic systems related to traffic signals and roadway lighting. They excel in troubleshooting, diagnosing issues, and performing precision calibrations while working efficiently both independently and as part of a team. With a commitment to safety and compliance, they can interpret technical drawings, follow regulations, and apply industry best practices. Adaptability, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage emergency call-outs are essential for success in this role.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS A
typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent; and three years of journey-level electrical and/or electronics maintenance, installation and repair experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Licenses; Certificates;
Special Requirements:
Current, valid certification as a Traffic Signal Technician through the International Municipal Signal Association is required prior to the conclusion of the probationary period. A valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the City's vehicle insurance policy.
THE TRANSPORTATION DIVISION
The Transportation Engineering Division assesses neighborhood and regional traffic concerns and implements corrective measures to enhance vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian safety. The staff works closely with the Western Riverside Council of Governments (WRCOG), the Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC), the California Department of Transportation (CALTRANS), and adjoining agencies to insure consistency and uniformity with regional transportation programs.
