Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Performing field visits and observations Collecting traffic volume and speed data Assisting with data entry and database maintenance Supporting basic traffic and transportation studies Assisting with traffic control and work zone reviews Supporting traffic signal and special event operations Responding to neighborhood traffic concerns Assisting sign and pavement marking crews as needed Supporting transportation and public works staff on seasonal projects Performing related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Current enrollment or completion of coursework in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Public Works, Transportation, Planning, GIS, Environmental Science, or a closely related field is preferred.
Experience:
Previous experience in field work, maintenance, construction, public works, utilities, landscaping, data collection, or related work environments is preferred; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Licenses and/or
Certifications Required:
A valid
Driver's License Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Familiarity with Microsoft Office products Basic problem-solving and organizational skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to follow written and verbal instructions Ability to safely work outdoors and near traffic Experience with field work, construction, maintenance, public works, data collection, or related activities is helpful but not required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Moderate to heavy physical work to include lifting 75lbs or less, carrying 75lbs or less, and pushing and/or pulling 50lbs or less Ability to physically access all work sites to perform duties, potentially in any weather and environmental conditions Frequent performance of activities requiring a full range of body movement including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling/bending, crouching, crawling, and/or twisting Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate tools and electrical equipment as well as for driving equipment and vehicles Vision for reading, recording and interpreting information Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Works primarily indoors in a clean and comfortable environment and outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions Regular exposure to dust, noise, and chemicals

This position may require the occasional use of personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment Must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check and driving record check prior to commencing employment.
