Full Time Open Until Filled. $23.86 to $26.25 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. South Area/Melbourne/Travels Countywide. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Performs experienced technical work in the Traffic Operations Signal section. Work involves maintenance and electrical work on traffic system components; maintaining the warehouse inventory; shipping and receiving operations as a signal warehouse technician; and working with and being cross-trained by the Traffic Signal Systems technical staff. In addition, this position may respond to and document requests from Sunshine State On-Call of Florida (SSOCOF) to locate and mark the County's underground facilities relating to traffic signalization and street lights.
REQUIREMENTS
Two (2) years of experience in the maintenance and/or repair of electrical, electronic, or mechanical equipment or components PLUS one (1) year of warehouse experience that includes working in a computerized inventory management system; OR two (2) years of experience as a current Brevard County Traffic Operations employee. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must be able to successfully complete, within six (6) months of employment, an OSHA-compliant forklift training class, which meets the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.178 and be able to safely operate a forklift. Must possess, or obtain within eighteen (18) months of employment, an International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Level I Traffic Signal Technician certification. Must possess, or obtain within twelve (12) months of employment, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)/Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) certification and maintain said certification during the term of employment. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
