By joining our Engineering Support Branch as a Highway Technician Assistant I in Clay County, you'll have the opportunity to perform a variety of general labor functions and operate basic automotive and power equipment such as, but not limited to bushhogs, chainsaws, chemical sprayers, chippers, jack hammers, mowing tractors, single axle truck (dump, flatbed, pickup), snowplow and salt spreader, broom sweepers and weed trimmers. Holders of the Highway Technician Assistant I position will complete tasks such as: Operate dump trucks with snowplow and salt spreader during Snow and Ice Season Learn to install traffic signs, including sign types, spacing, placement, height etc. Flag for operations requiring traffic control Learn and assist with basic surveying activities on construction projects, maintenance and repair or roadways Attend required training classes Ideal Candidate will have experience in: Experience working on rough terrain and in changing climates Basic maintenance or construction experience Eligibility to obtain a Commercial Driver's License Basic equipment operating experience
