- Provides technical assistance to the Utility.
- Assists Engineering Department personnel in day-today responsibilities.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists in promoting the maintenance of a safe accident free, and healthy work environment.
- Assists with sewer and water system mapping and field inspections.
- Performs limited land and topographic surveys.
- Assists with the backflow prevention program.
- Assists in reviewing plans and specifications for residential and commercial water and sewer line extensions.
- Assists with studies and reports.
- Performs other related duties as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum education is a high school diploma or equivalent, supplemented with 1 year of accredited engineering and/or technical school.
- Working knowledge of personal computer and AutoCAD Version 200 system.
- Familiar with land surveying, drafting and other engineering and technical capabilities.
- A working knowledge of utility operations and state and local regulations is a plus.
- Oral and written communication skills are a plus.
- Knowledge of the water distribution system and sanitary sewer collection systems and system design.
- Ability to exercise good judgment, tact and courtesy with customers, engineers, and contractors.
- Maintain a valid Kentucky driver's license.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, occasionally required to stand; sit; use hands to finger handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and climb or balance.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions and is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
