Job Description
Responsible for operating some motorized equipment, hand/power tools and assist Equipment Operators in the installation and maintenance of devices that provide for the orderly and predictable movement of all motorized, non-motorized and pedestrian traffic. Performs pre-trip/post-trip vehicle/equipment inspections. Performs daily preventative maintenance of motorized equipment or hand tools. Maintains tools and equipment in good and safe operating condition. Keeps jobsite and vehicles/equipment neat and in order. Performs any related duties needed to complete projects. Maintains records of work performed such as work schedules, status reports and records of work orders. Paints lane lines on the streets and thoroughfares. Paints designated curbs. Installs and maintains thermoplastic roadway markings and signage throughout the city. Installs and maintains lane marking devices and barricades. Assists with the proper set up of work zone traffic control. Fulfill on-call duties as required and outlined on Traffic Operations on-call roster. Assists with the maintenance of Traffic Operations building and grounds. Assists other City divisions and departments as needed. Trims trees in order to clear sign obstructions. Fabricates Signs Attends monthly safety meetings. Performs other related duties as assigned. Ability to sit, stand and drive a vehicle to and from various work sites. Employee will be exposed to seasonal temperatures while performing maintenance duties and be exposed to potentially hazardous equipment and traffic. Employee will be exposed to work zones consisting of high-volume vehicular traffic. Employee must be able to lift working materials. Minimum Education & Work Experience High School Diploma or equivalent No experience necessary Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
