Job Description

The Paducah & Louisville Railway, Inc. ("P&L") has an open position for railroad track laborer in Cecilia, KY. A railroad track laborer is responsible for the repair and maintenance of all track, track equipment and structures, and right of way in accordance with FRA, and Company rules, policies and regulations. All necessary safety procedures, guidelines and policies must be adhered to in the performance of the tasks assigned to this position as set forth below.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Remove and replace track components (ties, rails, bars, etc.) Correct deviations in track surface, alignment and gauge. Repair or adjust track switches, using wrenches and replacement parts. Load/unload and general handling of materials and equipment as instructed. Restores track after derailments Manages the right of way including cutting and removing brush/vegetation Install and repair street crossings, culverts, drainage. Weld sections of track together, such as switch points and frogs. Operate track tools and machines such as track-wrench machines to tighten or loosen bolts at joints that hold ends of rails together; rail saws to cut rails to specified lengths; power drills to drill holes through rails, tie plates, or fishplates for insertion of bolts or spikes; hand tools such as spike maul, claw bar, shovel, etc to repair track. Clean tracks or clear ice or snow from tracks or switch boxes.

Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
