Under general supervision, plans and directs the work of a large group of Coach Service Attendants engaged in servicing and cleaning coaches and automotive equipment, and moving, loading and unloading automotive and other equipment and supplies. 1. Supervises Coach Service Attendants at several locations on several shifts, engaged in servicing and cleaning automotive equipment and handling stock. 2. Monitors the entering and exiting of coaches in the service lane and the moving and parking of coaches in their proper location. 3. Reviews operations and establishes work assignments. 4. Studies work methods and develops and implements performance standards. 5. Inspects work to ensure that it is being performed efficiently and economically. 6. Investigates and resolves complaints and reports of unsatisfactory cleaning and servicing of automotive equipment. 7. Establishes guidelines for taking vehicles out of service. 8. Evaluates new equipment and supplies. 9. Prepares purchase requisitions and orders stock and makes recommendations on the purchase of new equipment. 10. Organizes special vehicle service programs. 11. Assigns and schedules employees work duties. 12. Prepares training programs and instructs subordinates in proper methods of changing tires and washing, cleaning, lubricating and servicing vehicles. 13. Initiates disciplinary actions and assists in grievance settlements. 14. Evaluates employee performance. 15. Maintains and prepares routine and special reports on activities. High School graduation or G.E.D. Four (4) years of experience in supervising a large groups of workers engaged in unskilled and semi-skilled work. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of cleaning and servicing requirements for a variety of automotive vehicles. Knowledge of routine vehicle maintenance procedures. Skill in observation. Skill in physical strength and mechanical dexterity. Skill in planning, directing and supervising the work of others. Ability to operate large automotive equipment. Ability to use a personal computer and common office software. Ability to prepare routine and specialized reports. Ability to interact effectively with subordinates and others with tact and diplomacy
Licenses, Certifications, and Other Special Requirements:
Valid State of Michigan Operator License. P ersons subsequently hired or promoted into this classification will be required to obtain a State of Michigan Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within 45 days of hire and a CDL with Group B Designation and Air Break Endorsement within 90 days.
