National Riding Stables Horse Rescue - Gettysburg, PA Job Description National Riding Stables Horse Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit corporation, whose mission is to save distressed horses from abuse, neglect, and slaughter. As part of the means of accomplishing this mission, we provide guided horseback tours of Gettysburg National Military Park. We are looking for people who love horses, have experience in horse care, are people-friendly, work well with others, and like working outdoors. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following: (other duties may be assigned as necessary) Daily care of the horses, including feeding, inspection, cleaning, brushing, hoof picking, moving horses from pasture or feed lot to corrals or barn, assisting veterinarians and farriers in their care of the horses, and saddling and tacking horses for use by customers, guides and wranglers. Cleaning of barns, stalls and paddocks, cleaning and repairing of tack and equipment, and opening and closing the barn and associated facilities. Meeting and greeting customers, teaching customers the basics of horsemanship, helping customers mount and dismount, and accompanying the customers on rides (often on foot) to ensure their safety and enjoyment. Qualifications MUST be 18 Horse experience
REQUIRED
(if no experience listed, you will not be contacted) Ability to be on your feet for 6+ hours a day Ability to lift and transport weights from 10lbs-50lbs without issue Must be able to work in all weather conditions Work Hours This is a seasonal/part-time position (that means hours fluctuate and we can not guarantee any amount of hours) Currently looking for part-time summer through fall horse care help, with potential to work near full-time during the busy Summer season. Normal shift is early morning through late afternoon. Employees needed seven days a week, year-around. Hours dependent upon experience and qualifications.
