Full-Time Position Summary Edmiston Trailers is looking for a dependable, hardworking Shop Technician to join our team. This position is responsible for servicing, repairing, inspecting, cleaning, and preparing horse and livestock trailers for our customers. We are looking for someone who is mechanically inclined, takes pride in their work, pays attention to detail, and is willing to tackle a variety of jobs around the shop. Experience with trailers, automotive repair, welding, electrical work, detailing, or general mechanical work is a plus. Job Responsibilities Perform general maintenance and repairs on horse and livestock trailers. Inspect trailers and identify needed repairs or safety concerns. Service and replace wheel bearings, hubs, brakes, drums, and related components. Diagnose and repair trailer lighting, wiring, plugs, batteries, and other 12-volt electrical systems. Repair or replace trailer jacks, couplers, safety chains, latches, hinges, doors, windows, and other hardware. Perform basic welding, fabrication, and metal repair when needed. Inspect and service trailer tires and wheels. Troubleshoot hydraulic and electric trailer components. Assist with repairs and maintenance on living-quarter trailers when applicable. Perform new and used trailer inspections and help prepare trailers for customer delivery. Install trailer accessories and replacement parts. Acid wash aluminum horse and livestock trailers. Polish aluminum trailers, wheels, trim, and other components to restore and maintain their appearance. Properly and safely handle chemicals and equipment used during acid washing and polishing. Wash, clean, and detail trailers as needed for customer delivery or the sales lot. Keep the shop, wash area, tools, equipment, and work areas clean and organized. Properly document completed repairs and communicate additional repair needs. Assist with loading, moving, and positioning trailers around the dealership. Follow shop safety procedures and properly use tools, equipment, chemicals, and required protective equipment. Help with other dealership and shop duties as needed. Qualifications Mechanically inclined with strong problem-solving skills. Experience in trailer, automotive, diesel, equipment, RV, welding, detailing, or similar work is preferred. Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems is preferred. Welding and fabrication experience is a plus. Experience with acid washing and aluminum polishing is a plus, but training may be provided. Comfortable working with cleaning chemicals while following proper safety procedures. Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, polishing equipment, jacks, lifts, and other shop equipment. Ability to work independently while also working well with the rest of the team. Dependable, punctual, and willing to work. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Valid driver's license preferred. Ability to safely lift and move parts, tools, and equipment associated with trailer repair and detailing. This is a hands-on position that includes everything from mechanical repairs and trailer maintenance to acid washing, polishing, and preparing trailers to look their best before they leave the dealership. Because every trailer that comes through our shop can be different, the ideal technician should be comfortable troubleshooting problems and taking on a variety of tasks. Experience is valuable, but a strong work ethic, mechanical ability, attention to detail, and willingness to learn are just as important. About Edmiston Trailers Edmiston Trailers specializes in horse and livestock trailers, providing trailer sales, service, parts, and support to customers throughout Texas and beyond. Our shop works on a wide variety of trailers, from everyday stock and horse trailers to high-end living-quarter trailers.

$12.00 - $17.00 per hour
