Smog Technician - Auto Tech Specialists Auto Tech Specialists is a full-service automotive repair and diagnostic center serving San Diego since 1999. Our 19-bay facility works on a wide range of domestic, European, Japanese, hybrid, and fleet vehicles and is equipped to handle everything from routine maintenance and diagnostics to complex mechanical repairs. We are currently looking for an experienced, dependable California-licensed Smog Technician to join our growing service team. Position Responsibilities The Smog Technician will be responsible for performing accurate and compliant California emissions inspections while delivering professional service to our customers.

Responsibilities include:

Perform California Smog Check inspections in accordance with BAR requirements and procedures Conduct emissions testing, OBD inspections, and required visual and functional inspections Accurately document inspection results and maintain required records Properly operate and maintain smog inspection equipment Verify vehicle information, emissions components, and applicable inspection requirements Identify vehicles requiring further diagnosis or emissions-related repairs Communicate inspection findings clearly with service advisors and management Maintain a clean, organized, and professional inspection area Follow all California Bureau of Automotive Repair regulations and company procedures Stay current with BAR regulations, training requirements, and changes to California Smog Check procedures Qualifications Current and valid California Smog Check Inspector License Smog Check Repair Technician License is a strong plus Previous smog inspection experience preferred Strong understanding of California emissions systems and OBD-II diagnostics Ability to work efficiently while maintaining accuracy and compliance Strong attention to detail and documentation Dependable, punctual, and professional Valid California driver's license Ability to work independently and as part of a busy automotive service team Why Join Auto Tech Specialists?
