PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To provide students and staff with safe transportation.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
Must have a GED or High School Diploma Must have a commercial driver's license (CDL) and/or obtain the P and S endorsements Minimum 2 years working around diesel/gas engine mechanics Minimum 2 years working on electromechanical service shop environment
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Demonstrated ability of successful fulfillment of assigned responsibilities Must have basic knowledge of vehicle electrical systems Must be able to use a lap top computer for diagnostics Ability to lift and carry 45 lbs. without assistance
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Helps to service, repair, and keep in safe operating conditions all district vehicles. Assists the district transportation employees in checking the school vehicles they operate. Keeps records of repairs and schedules of maintenance required on buses and other transportation vehicles. Requisitions and orders, in prescribed manner, parts and supplies needed for repair of buses and other transportation vehicles. Learns proper safety procedures; to follow safety regulations in the performance of duties; and to report accidents immediately. Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or others. Performs bus driving assignments when necessary. Works overtime including Saturdays. Performs other duties as requested by the Director for Transportation.
