Videos Duties Help As a Supervisory Marine Accident Investigor, GS-1801-15, you will perform the following major duties: Serve as Branch Chief of Investigions Division by determining marine accident investigion assignments within the Division based on team schedule, nure of accidents, distribution of workload, and required skills and qualificions of the Investigor-In-Charge (IIC) and group chairpersons. Promote teamwork and counsel IIC's and group chairpersons on investigive operions. Receive updes from the investigion scene, track the progress of all open investigions, and provide updes to the Investigions Division Chief and Office of Marine Safety (OMS) management of upcoming milestones. Responsible for overall timeliness and quality of products, including technical accuracy and adequacy, investigive approach, issue identificion based upon facts, thoroughness of analysis, and general presention of work products. Set and adjust short-term priorities of subordines, evalue work performance and appraise staff performance. Identify developmental and training needs of staff, conduct and/or plan training courses to maintain and improve both technical and investigive employee skills. Develop and make speeches and/or formal presentions to nional, internional, and local groups reled to marine safety topics. Direct investigors in the preparion of NTSB's public hearings and participe as a member of the technical panel. applying principles and practices of marine accident investigion and marine transportion safety sufficient to provide leadership; AND utilizing knowledge of legislion, Code of Federal Regulions, and guidelines governing marine transportion safety sufficient to recognize deficiencies in the regulory oversight of marine transportion activities; AND serving as lead investigor (e.g., IIC) by managing all aspects of marine investigion including coordining investigive parties, setting schedules, and maintaining budget.
