Job Description
Property Inspector Katy, TX Are you an experienced Property Inspector who would like to work in a small, collaborative team dedicated to ensuring top-notch conditions for families? Would daily travel to properties throughout the area West of Houston, from Northwest to Southwest, appeal to you? BSR Properties, a subsidiary of Faircroft, manages a portfolio of 200 properties, primarily single-family homes. Our properties are maintained to exceptional standards, and the Property Inspector's responsibility is to ensure we remain consistent in this approach. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Property Inspector to manage property inspections, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards. This role involves conducting thorough inspections, carefully documenting findings, and preparing comprehensive reports for property owners and management. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, and excellent communication skills to effectively convey inspection results. Being a self-starter, who is comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment, is essential. A valid Texas driver's license and ability to travel independently on a daily basis is required. All workdays will begin and end at our office in Katy, with a company vehicle available for the Inspector's use. On occasion, if the vehicle is unavailable and the Inspector needs to use their personal vehicle, all business mileage will be reimbursed. Responsibilities Perform regular inspections of properties to evaluate their condition, including structural integrity, safety hazards, and maintenance needs. Create detailed reports outlining inspection findings, including photographs, and recommend necessary repairs or improvements. Work with property management and maintenance teams to address identified issues and ensure timely resolution. Communicate effectively with tenants regarding inspection results and any necessary follow-up actions or repairs. Keep accurate and organized records of inspections, repairs, and compliance status for all properties. Ensure properties meet local, state, and federal regulations related to health, safety, and building codes. Liaise with the executive team and senior staff to handle requests and queries regarding all work orders and maintenance updates. Prepare periodic and special reports; compile information and maintain department reference information. Draft correspondence, reports, and other documents; proof/edit documents for accuracy, content, and format. Serve as the primary point of contact for inspection-related inquiries and follow-ups. Analyze inspection data and trends to improve processes and address recurring issues. Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by management to support organizational goals and objectives. Qualifications 1+ years of experience as a property inspector, or a related capacity. High School Diploma or GED required. Basic knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and inspection processes. Valid Texas driver's license with acceptable driving history. Prior experience with Property Management Ticketing Systems, such as AppFolio or Yardi, is a plus. Capacity to deliver strong customer service, and to interact with residents professionally and responsively, is essential. Strong verbal and written English communication skills; bilingual skills are a plus. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Multi-tasking, telephone skills, time-management, organization, attention to detail, scheduling. Ability to work well under pressure and act as a problem solver and team player. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel), Outlook, Windows and database applications.
