Job Summary

Chief Inspector is responsible for assisting Director of Quality (DOQ) in overseeing inspection of articles and inspectors in Quality Department. Must be current on all FARs, DFARs, Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, and internal policies and procedures, along with developing inspection methods and processes with supervision of DOQ. Must be appropriately certificated mechanic under FAR Part 65.

Key Responsibilities

Chief Inspector Responsibilities and Authority:

Oversee/perform inspections and inspectors as required

Oversee/perform audits as required

Control and update Stamp control roster when changes must be made

Assist, supervise, and direct all personnel assigned to Inspection Department

Review Shop Records package and appropriate service information to ensure all inspection repairs were properly completed prior to releasing product for return to service

Maintain and review pertinent CFRs, specifications, type certification data sheets, and airworthiness directives via manufacturing publications, websites, and subscription services

Determine that all technical data on all articles overhauled or repaired by Repair Station are secured and kept current with latest revisions.

This data will include:

Non-destructive testing, Manufacturers overhaul manuals, service bulletins related to FAA-approved data

Ensure periodic checks are made on all measuring tools, torque wrenches, test gauges, and required nondestructive testing inspection equipment used by Repair Station

Submit Malfunction Defect report 8010-4 as revised per

A/C 2009

Submit Form 8120-11 for SUPs to FAA

Ensure proper execution of FAA Form 337 when required, and/or maintenance release

Accomplish final acceptance of all incoming material including new parts, supplies, and articles on which work has been performed outside Repair Station by contract to non-certified maintenance sources

Oversee proper tagging and identification of all parts and components as outlined in manual

Provide for continuity of inspection responsibility, assuring completion of required inspections when personnel shift or assignment changes occur as outlined in RSQCM

Ensure rejected and unserviceable parts are handled in such a way as to prevent their reuse as serviceable parts as outlined in RSQCM

Delegate all assigned duties and responsibilities to qualified assistant to be carried out in absence as required. However, such delegation does not relieve Chief Inspector of overall responsibilities

Requirements

License:

Current FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate required - Appropriately certificated mechanic under FAR Part 65

Experience:

Minimum 5-10 years as Part 145 inspector required

Minimum 5+ years in inspection or quality role at FAA Part 145 repair station as Chief Inspector required

Experience and knowledge of Boeing 767, 747, 737, and/or Airbus

A340, A330

Systems and/or interior inspection experience preferred

Required Skills:

Working knowledge of Part 145 FAR, Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, type certificate data sheets, and manufacturer technical data control

Experience with incoming material inspection, parts tagging/identification, stamp control, and control of rejected/unserviceable parts

Experience performing or overseeing internal audits and tool/equipment calibration programs including NDT equipment

Other:

Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check

Must pass FAA/DOT drug and alcohol program including random testing as required by regulations

Spanish is a plus
