Job Description

The Marvin Group is a Strategic Partner for Global Alternate Mission Equipment and Sustainment The Marvin Group, a leading defense contractor, plays a crucial role in the development and manufacturing of various systems for military aerospace and vehicles. Based in Southern California near the Los Angeles International Airport, The Marvin Group consists of Marvin Engineering (MEC), Marvin Test Solutions (MTS) and Marvin Land Systems (MLS). Marvin Engineering designs and produces military Alternate Mission Equipment. Marvin Test Solutions designs and manufactures armament Test Equipment. Marvin Land Systems specializes in the design and build of power and thermal management systems. For over 60 years we have maintained "A Tradition of Excellence", serving as a trusted source for our unwavering commitment to supporting all branches of the Department of Defense and our global allies. Our collaboration extends across a diverse array of programs and platforms, including major military prime contractors such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Raytheon. SCOPE Quality Control Inspector inspects products for compliance to MLS processes, procedures, and contractual obligations with experience in inspection and an understanding of GD&T concepts. This individual performs all visual and dimensional inspections and in addition, uses computer aided inspection equipment.
RESPONSIBLITIES
  • Perform program independent inspections, validations, and/or verifications of assigned items to ensure compliance to MLS processes, procedures, and contractual obligations
  • Perform independent inspections of assigned tasks (documentation reviews, hardware inspection, assembly inspection, tests validation, etc. using blueprints (2D drawings,3D models), specifications, contractual documents, visual inspection methods, and more
  • Perform dimensional and characteristics inspections and measurements using variety of hand and bench tools which may include: various micrometers, bore gages, depth gages, dial indicators, height gages, etc. as well as optical comparators, hardness checkers, profilometers, as required
  • Understand, use and measure basic GD&T concepts such as: Straightness, Flatness, Circularity, Cylindricity, Perpendicularity, and Parallelism as applicable to the job
  • CMM preferred experience but not required:
  • Able to operate/program CMM and other computer aided inspection tools (depending on level)
  • Able to analyze, interpret, and present CMM data output and results (depending on level)
  • Perform inspections of components using surface plate inspection methods and/or computer aided inspection equipment such as CMMs, FARO/Romer Arms, Laser Tracker, Video Measuring Machines, etc. (depending on level)
  • May need to interpret and use programs and models for computer aided inspection equipment
  • May be asked to perform higher level inspections while under supervision depending on experience/skill level
  • May be asked to perform source inspections or otherwise travel in support of MLS quality needs
  • May need to interface with engineers, suppliers, and/or customers
  • May be able to perform lower level inspection tasks or train lower level inspectors as applicable
SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS
  • High School graduate diploma or a General Educational Development (GED) certificate
  • Five to ten years minimum experience as a QC inspector
  • Experience in an aerospace and defense production and manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Must be able to read and understand mechanical drawings (notes, features, views, tolerances, etc.) and specifications
  • Understand and use GD&T concepts (depending on level)
  • Able to perform basic algebra and trigonometry
  • Basic computer skills
  • Able to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Must be able to speak/read/write English
  • Able to work with others and be a team player
  • Experience in working with SAP MRP environment is a plus
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certifications in GD& T, Quality Inspection, relevant ASQ areas, or college degrees in Quality Assurance, Engineering, or other technical fields are a PLUS
  • Experience using surface plates, CMMs, and other inspection equipment (depending on level), is preferred not required
