Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Port Drayage Dispatcher specializing in Electric Truck Operations for the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. In this pivotal role, you will coordinate the efficient movement of electric trucks within the port terminals, ensuring seamless drayage operations that support sustainable transportation initiatives. Duties Coordinate and dispatch electric trucks for port drayage activities, ensuring timely pickup and delivery of freight within POLA and POLB terminals. Monitor real-time GPS and GIS data to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and improve operational efficiency. Communicate effectively with drivers, terminal personnel, and internal teams via multi-line phone systems and internal communication platforms to relay instructions and updates. Manage data entry related to freight movements, vehicle status, and port documentation using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management. Ensure compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, safety protocols, and environmental standards specific to electric vehicle operations. Handle phone call management professionally, providing excellent customer service while addressing inquiries or resolving issues promptly. Maintain organized records of dispatch activities, shipping & receiving logs, and fleet management documentation for audit readiness and operational analysis. Skills Strong knowledge of GIS (Geographic Information Systems), GPS technology, and transportation planning tools to facilitate efficient routing. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for reporting, communication, and data management tasks. Experience with road transportation operations, freight logistics, and fleet management software tailored for electric vehicles. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask across multiple systems including transportation management systems like Oracle TMS. Effective communication skills—both verbal and written—and phone etiquette to interact confidently with drivers, clients, and team members. Analysis skills to interpret GPS data, port operations metrics, and logistics reports for continuous improvement initiatives. Knowledge of shipping & receiving procedures along with DOT regulations governing vehicle dispatching and freight handling.
