Responsible for coordining the operional functions found within these facilities and across the service area. Responsible for coordining policies with the Deputy Directors of System Operions, Regional and Service Area Managers as well as other senior officials. Directly responsible for the En-route and Terminal Air Traffic Managers and for all area control operional activities. As a recognized expert in air traffic control operions, procedures and traffic flow management, incumbent ensures th facility operions maximize efficiency and service. Maintains situional awareness of the nional airspace to ensure th average daily airport capacity, airport efficiency res and adjusted operional availability in the Area meet the performance metrics and goals established in the FAA Flight Plan. In conjunction with other General Managers and Deputy Directors of System Operions, develops standards, systems procedures and techniques to improve air traffic services within the Area. Identifies informion needs, ad hoc and recurring reporting requirements to include reporting frequency to the Director of Operions. Works on complex projects and programs based on the objectives of the organizion's vision and objectives, setting priorities, coaching, and developing staff and organizional capabilities. He/she solicits feedback among management team members on shared responsibilities for safety, efficiency and a systems approach in the performance of the NAS. Provides vision and leadership to Air Traffic Managers in assigned Areas. Sets and adjusts long and short-term goals and priorities in support of FAA Flight Plan initiives. Ensures th all facility operions in their area are directed toward continually improving levels of service to customers. Continually reviews operional projects and programs to make sure th they are aligned with long term and short term ATO and FAA goals, objectives and plans. Establishes and refines objectives to support those goals and plans. Makes major recommendions in the areas of long-range objectives and plans, resources and method improvements th have a direct and substantial effect on many programs, policies, and Flight Plan goals and metrics. Meets and has frequent contacts with both internal and external customers including subordines, other peer management representives, union representives, administrive support staff within the facility, higher ranking managers and supervisors, service center personnel, members of the ste, local and federal government, other foreign government aviion officials, general public, representives of the aviion industry and military. Contacts take place in meetings and conferences or in unplanned situions where the General Manager is designed as a contact point and these meetings have the potential for considerable consequence to the NAS. Approves leave and prepares schedules for completion of work; assigns work to direct reports based on priorities. Evalues work performance of subordines ensuring equity of performance standards and rings; gives advice on work and on administrive mters; makes decisions on work problems presented by subordines; hears and recommends/approves selections and transfers; recommends awards or bonuses; approves expenses for overtime, equipment, and personnel; and identifies and arranges for developmental and other training needs of subordines.
