Position Summary Play an important role in maintaining safe and efficient travel throughout Kirksville as a Traffic Control Technician for the City of Kirksville. This position is responsible for installing and maintaining traffic signs, signals, pavement markings, and street lighting while identifying and addressing traffic control needs throughout the community. The position also supports street maintenance operations and responds to emergencies. Key Responsibilities Install, maintain, repair, and replace traffic signs, signals, and other traffic control devices in accordance with applicable regulations Maintain pavement markings, including street striping, pedestrian crossings, directional markings, and curb painting Troubleshoot, test, calibrate, and repair traffic signals and related equipment Evaluate traffic flow concerns and recommend improvements to existing traffic control systems Maintain traffic control equipment, inventory, work orders, and material records Coordinate street lighting requests, inspect lighting installations, and report or repair lighting failures Establish safe work zones using signs, cones, barricades, and other traffic control measures Assist with street maintenance, snow and ice removal, special events, and emergency response operations Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent Four (4) years of experience in construction, maintenance, or repair Valid Missouri Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Air Brakes Endorsement Knowledge of construction methods, equipment operation, and occupational safety practices Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills Equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered Additional Information Monday - Friday Primarily outdoor work in varying weather conditions, including high-traffic areas Ability to frequently lift and move up to 75 pounds and occasionally lift and move more than 100 pounds Participation in rotating standby schedules and emergency call-outs, including during inclement weather and other City emergencies Ability to work independently, prioritize assignments, and maintain safe working conditions The City of Kirksville is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
