Safety Specialist - Traffic Control Operations (Sparta, NJ) Artio Traffic Protection is hiring a Traffic Control Safety Specialist to keep our communities safe and moving. The Traffic Control Safety Specialist will assist in the facilitation and management of the companies' Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) program. This position reports to the Director of Safety and works closely with the operations team to perform audits, maintain compliance, conduct employee training sessions, maintain EH&S records, monitor performance, investigate incidents, implement corrective actions, and provide support during customer and regulatory inspections or other interactions. This position will be responsible for the monitoring of, and enforcement of safe work zones as set forth by the MUTCD, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), OSHA, ANSI, American Traffic Safety Service Association (ATSSA), and company safety standards. The position travels to selected work zones throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey to ensure proper conditions are met in accordance with ATSSA and Artio Traffic Protection safety policies, and to ensure all work zones and safety policies are adhered to at each job site and support operational excellence.

Responsibilities:

Conduct field safety inspections and work zone audits. Ensure compliance with MUTCD, OSHA, ATSSA, NJDOT, PennDOT, and company requirements. Comprehend and work with applicable state and federal regulations, and company programs to drive compliance by assuring elements such as training, record keeping, and operations meet requirements. Schedule, conduct and track EH&S training on subjects such as emergency procedures, PPE, etc. As needed, develop EH&S topics and provide training to address new conditions or trends at the company. Inspect and make corrections to work zones to ensure the movement of vehicular traffic around work zones is safe. Ensure all Artio Traffic Protection employees are wearing all required personal protective equipment (PPE) on the job. Monitor work zones for unauthorized personnel, vehicles, or unsafe conditions. Lead incident investigations of workplace injuries, casualty losses, near misses, and environmental events. Properly record and report on such incidents. Complete 5-Why analyses and implement corrective actions. Maintain and publish weekly EH&S reports of incidents, good catches, and near misses. Maintain all EH&S documentation and ensure records remain audit ready. Support safety programs such as employee observation and coaching, weekly safety meetings, safety recognition programs, etc. Develop and deliver toolbox talks and safety presentations. Prepare and distribute weekly safety reports. Track safety actions, drive completion, and implement programs to assure that activities were completed. Attend industry workshops, conferences, and management meetings as needed.

Required Qualifications:

Valid driver's license with clean driving record Associate's degree 1+ years of experience in roadway/utility traffic safety Successful completion of the 30-hour OSHA Construction Safety & Health (29 CFR 1926) Course, or willingness to obtain upon hire. Flagger certification from a recognized training program such as ATSSA, National Safety Council, or a recognized construction industry association Detail-oriented with effective written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational and time management skills Strong leadership and employee coaching skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects/initiatives simultaneously and work well with all levels of the organization Comfortable with public speaking to provide safety training in group settings Strong understanding of regulatory, professional, and industry standards Ability to work independently to complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision Proactive attitude and customer service focus Ability to travel extensively throughout

New Jersey and Pennsylvania Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree
• Bilingual communication skills in English & Spanish
• Knowledge of MUTCD, OSHA, PennDOT, and NJDOT traffic regulations
• NJ Traffic Control Coordinator (TCC) Certification
• Experience with roadway traffic control, flagging operations, signage, cones, and barricades
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety and Health Certification

Shared office space located in Sparta, NJ for administrative responsibilities. Significant travel throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania is expected. Occasional weekend work may be required. Physical Demands The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Compensation Salary range:
