Position Summary:
Truck Scale Clerk / Cashier - Scrap Metal Recycling Operation We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Truck Scale Clerk / Cashier to join our busy scrap metal recycling operation. This position plays a key role in customer service, transaction processing, and daily scale operations. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial environment while handling customer transactions accurately and professionally.
Essential Job Duties:
Weigh inbound and outbound customer vehicles using truck scale systems Process customer transactions and issue payments accurately Operate POS (Point of Sale) systems and cash handling procedures Verify identification and required documentation Enter purchase and inventory information into company software systems Answer phones and assist customers with questions Maintain accurate records and daily transaction logs Work closely with yard personnel and management to ensure smooth operations
Qualifications:
Previous cashier and customer service experience required Experience processing payments and handling cash transactions Experience using POS systems and basic computer applications Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Dependable, organized, and professional Previous experience in scrap metal, recycling, trucking, or industrial operations preferred but not required Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply
Education:
A high school diploma or GED is required. A minimum of 1 year of customer service experience is preferred Cash Handling experience a must! Strong communication, organizational, and time management abilities. Team-oriented and able to collaborate effectively with others. Willingness to learn about the scrap metal recycling industry. Must pass a background check and drug screen, if required. Must have open availability to work weekends.
