The City of Fort Collins is searching for a certified Traffic Control Supervisor for a full time, benefited position within the City's Streets Department. The anticipated hiring range for this position is $26.44-$31.25 per hour with opportunities for overtime which is paid at time and half (that's up to $46.87 for overtime!). The position also includes the City of Fort Collins exceptional benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401k, Paid Time Off, access to our on-site gyms, and access to our free, onsite clinic to name a few). This position also offers opportunities for growth and optional CDL training. If you do not have your TCS Certificate, we offer paid training for the right person. Our Traffic Control team is vital to ensure safety to the traveling public and workers on job sites. The Traffic Control Supervisor will work under the direction of the Traffic Control Crew Chief, this position is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of vehicles, bicyclists and pedestrians, communication with the general public through and around temporary traffic control zones while reasonably protecting workers and equipment. Communicating day to day with the crews on their daily needs. There will be opportunities for overtime, as well as required compensated on-call periods. This position will oversee work zones and provide direction to flaggers, making it an excellent leadership training opportunity. Members of this team work with Utilities, Light and Power, Forestry, Engineering, and the Streets Maintenance Program, giving exposure to other operations of the City. This opportunity is ideal for a candidate with 3 years related experience including 2 years training in traffic control; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive. Perform safe and orderly traffic control duties within the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) standards and the City of Fort Collins handbook. Performs unskilled and skilled manual labor, and semi-skilled work in the operation of tools, automotive, and specialized equipment involved in planning and implementing traffic control around street construction, maintenance and repair sites. Protect yourself and the public from road construction and maintenance dangers. Protect the work crew from dangers presented by the traveling public. Ensure that traffic proceeds smoothly and in a timely fashion through the work zone. Assist with towing operations. Perform site checks to ensure the safety of the traveling public. Set-up and break-down all traffic control devices in work zones. Designing and drafting highly detail layout traffic control plans in Rapid Plan/ CoralDraw for the construction of projects within the city departments Knowledge of the city's standard drawing for public works construction and thorough understanding of utility and partial maps are mandatory. Keep other supervisors informed of daily tasks and responsibilities. Answer citizen questions and/or direct them to the right person. Understand and carry-out the Department's safety and uniform policies. Maintain accident/incident reports and point out safety problems or deficiencies. Assist in snow removal. Places, removes, and repairs temporary and permanent traffic control devices. The ability to read and interpret complex and detailed construction blueprints. Identify existing underground utilities, monuments & property markers. Comprehend utility, parcel and surveying maps and recommend alternative layout options as per current field conditions. Fielding notes must be highly accurate and clearly understandable. Maintain and stock traffic control truck and trailer daily. Communication with other city departments on upcoming projects and or emergency set ups. Attention to detail and accuracy. Well versed in AutoCAD software (Rapid Plan / Coral Draw) Ability to handle multi projects at once and be well organized. (Time Management) Required Qualifications Minimum Preferred High School Diploma or GED and or functionally related licenses or certificates High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required Experience Requirements 3 years related experience including 2 years training in traffic control; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
