A global steel trading company is seeking a Traffic Supervisor for their office in Long Beach, CA.
SUMMARY:
Provides customer and support through a variety of administrative and logistical functions. Facilitates and supervises the importation of steel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as the primary inside contract entry for assigned customers with regard to processing orders to the supplier, contract entry and invoicing, troubleshooting any problems with account, and monitors the account status of each customer including overdue balances. Coordinates warehousing, transportation and other logistics matters. Negotiates rates with freight forwarding companies and oversees deliveries/shipments to ensure timely arrival of goods in compliance with import/export regulations. Contacts customers/suppliers frequently to answer questions, resolve problems, and provide guidance. Investigates/handles customer complaints regarding quality, specifications, tolerances and delivered condition of products. Coordinates and attends rejected material inspections documenting reasons given for rejections. Validates condition of material and determines best disposition to minimize losses either by re-sales and/or collection from insurance. Monitors customer credit limits and manages/monitors inventory levels and movements. Maintains vendor/customer accounts ensuring timely payment and receipt of invoices via SAP/excel. Plans, organizes and coordinates assigned programs to ensure accomplishment of financial/budgetary goals. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Customer service experience required, including the ability to recognize and satisfy customer requirements and expectations in daily business. Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to using integrated accounting and material management software. Experience working with SAP preferred. The ability to work independently and troubleshoot problems. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, organizational skills, and computer skills (Microsoft Office applications).
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree and 7 years relevant experience
