PORT DRAYAGE
DISPATCHERLOCATIONNorth Charleston, SC | Onsite
COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE
$22.00+ based on experience Monday-Friday | Approximately 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM | No weekend work anticipated Temp-to-Hire | W2ROLE IMPACTCoordinate daily container movement from Charleston-area marine terminals to customer locations, including deliveries and empty returns. Success requires hands-on port drayage dispatch experience, strong driver coordination, and working knowledge of terminal deadlines, chassis requirements, container availability, demurrage, and detention.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Dispatch drivers for marine terminal container pickups, customer deliveries, and empty returns Schedule and monitor terminal appointments, container availability, chassis needs, and container free time Track container movement and deadlines to help prevent demurrage and detention charges Communicate assignments, delays, ETAs, and schedule changes with drivers and customers Adjust driver and load assignments based on terminal conditions and changing priorities while maintaining accurate transportation documentation
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1-3+ years of port drayage/container dispatch experience required Direct experience dispatching containers from marine terminals by truck, including terminal appointments, chassis, container availability, empty returns, demurrage, and detention Strong driver coordination, scheduling, communication, and multitasking skills with the ability to work onsite in North Charleston, SCCORE
TOOLS & SYSTEMS
TMS and/or drayage dispatch software Marine terminal container tracking and appointment systems Microsoft Office and computer-based scheduling systems
PREFERRED SKILLS
