Job Overview:
The Dispatcher for rails and terminals will be responsible for managing the shipping, scheduling, and movement of railcars, ensuring timely arrivals and departures. This role will oversee raw material ordering, inventory management, and warehouse transfers while maintaining accurate records and preparing weekly reports.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Coordinate the shipping and release of railcars, ensuring timely arrivals and departures. Order railcars into various terminals and ensure proper scheduling. Monitor and manage railcar movements from pick-up to delivery. Oversee the receiving and emptying of railcars upon arrival at terminals. Facilitate warehouse transfers and maintain accurate records in Datacor. Ensure compliance with safety standards and operational procedures during railcar unloading. Order raw materials for designated sites, ensuring adequate stock levels and timely deliveries. Schedule loads for outside terminals to meet operational requirements. Monitor inventory levels and coordinate material deliveries to prevent delays. Prepare and supply weekly reports for necessary meetings, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information. Maintain records of all railcar transactions and related logistics data. Collaborate closely with other departments, terminals, and outside vendors to ensure smooth operations. Provide timely updates on any potential delays or disruptions to the schedule. Assist with any tasks and projects assigned.
Requirements:
Required Skills/Abilities:
Familiarity with DOT and HAZMAT regulations Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Excellent time management and organizational abilities, with a focus on accuracy and detail. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Effective problem-solving abilities. Strong understanding of railcar logistics and terminal operations. Experience with Datacor or similar inventory management systems.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. Relevant HAZMAT industry experience is preferred. Class A CDL Hazmat driver experience is preferred.
