The Service Porters function is to courteously and efficiently meet and exceed customer expectations by providing assistance in the service lane reception area. He/she is responsible for moving customer vehicles to ensure smooth and efficient traffic flow through the facility and increase customer convenience and maintain an efficient service parking area.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Install seat, steering wheel, floor protection and ID tags in all vehicles taken in for service Ensure that all vehicles in the dealership are secured, locked and accounted for Maintain the parking lot in an organized, efficient manner Keep all service vehicles neat and orderly Move customer and dealership vehicles as directed Make and implement decisions regarding maintaining and cleaning vehicles Maintain new and used vehicles' appearance by cleaning interior and exterior of vehicles, replenishing fluids and/or air, and replacing batteries as needed Operate overhead doors to assist customers and service employees Remove the protective coverings and ID tags installed in the vehicle, prior to returning the completed vehicle to the customer Inspect the vehicle for stains, debris and damage before returning the vehicle to the customer, and report any damage to management immediately Return the vehicle keys to the appropriate Service Advisor Remain in the service write-up area unless performing another task as directed Understand and comply with federal, state and local regulations, such as safety requirements, hazardous waste disposal, OSHA, Right-to-Know, etc. Clean dealership areas (e.g., walkways and sidewalks) as needed Utilize all available information to ensure proper resolution of problems Provide prompt, efficient and quality service to the customers and dealership Take the initiative to exceed customer satisfaction, even if it requires overcoming obstacles Present self as positive role model by demonstrating commitment to the department, customers, dealership and company Listen actively to understand others completely Resolve all disputes and difficulties with professionalism and composure Prioritize work to ensure all deadlines are met Attend training classes as directed by management All other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or the equivalent One year experience in an automobile retail environment (preferred but not required) Must have valid in-state driver's license and have and maintain an acceptable, safe driving record and safe driving habits in order to drive both customer vehicles and a demonstrator vehicle Excellent verbal and written communication skills Available to work 7am - 7pm Monday - Saturday Must be insurable Ability to collaborate with the public, sometimes with several customers at a time Ability to collaborate with other dealership personnel Must be a team player with impeccable honesty and integrity Maintain a high level of professional personal appearance and conduct Proficient knowledge of tools and materials needed to perform departmental duties ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
