Job Description

We're looking for a dependable and service-oriented individual to support events at the Chatham County Agriculture and Conference Center. This role involves preparing event spaces, providing on-site customer service, and helping ensure everything runs smoothly—from setup to cleanup. Performs semiskilled work in the preparation, cleaning, and physical setup for all meetings and events in the Chatham County Agriculture & Conference Center (CCACC) including general event hosting and services duties, customer service, general maintenance and cleaning and performing related work as apparent or assigned. This is a part time position working a maximum of 20 hours per week and work hours will vary according to events held at the facility. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Event Services Leader. Responsible for the coordination of pre-event room set-ups to adhere to event orders both written and oral. Set-up equipment includes but is not limited to stages, tables, chairs, linens, general event hosting and service duties, check room set-ups and make adjustments if needed, equipment and basic audio-visual equipment as indicated on event order; Assists customers who are renting the facility by providing additional tables and/or chairs, communicating rules and regulations that may affect the safety of participants or the facility, and providing answers to any questions about the facility, or surrounding areas; Monitors and supports client events, including hospitality services, concessions, temperature, A-V, and other amenities of facility as needed; Provides maintenance and cleaning before, during and after special events, including trash pick-up and removal, buffing, dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and washing windows; Cleans and supplies restrooms and checks drains for odors; Replaces fluorescent bulbs and light bulbs, checks exit and emergency lights, cleans overhead lights as needed during after-hours events, and reports outages to County maintenance during regular business hours; Picks up trash and debris from outside of buildings and cleans parking lots; Performs other conference center housekeeping and conversions as needed; Assists County maintenance with shoveling and salting all walkways and parking areas as appropriate during winter precipitation, if needed; Identifies any facility needs that should be addressed by custodial staff and records any equipment or supplies that were used or rented that had not been pre-arranged as needed and Performs other duties as assigned. High school diploma or GED and at least two years' experience in custodial work or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in hospitality, maintenance, and/or customer service with the public and in an event setting is preferred. General knowledge of CCACC policies and procedures, building cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment and ability to use them economically and efficiently; General knowledge of basic computer functions; Ability to provide and promote good customer service including responding to common inquires and dealing with the public in a sound and professional manner; Ability to understand oral and written directions including the ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, room diagrams and procedure manuals; Ability to effectively present information to management; Ability to perform heavy manual work; Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision and Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and CCACC staff and guests. Physical Requirements This work requires the regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force, frequent exertion of up to 50 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 100 pounds of force; loading and unloading up to 100 pounds from trucks; pushing/pulling chair and table racks with handcart; wear uniform at all times; wear proper safety clothing and gear when needed; safely use equipment such as a man-lift, lifting portable staging, running dishwashers; work regularly requires prolonged standing, walking, using hands to finger, handling or feeling, frequently requires speaking or hearing, reaching with hands and arms and repetitive motions and occasionally requires sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, smelling, pushing, pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; work requires vocal communication to express or exchange ideas orally; work requires hearing to perceive information at normal spoken levels; work requires visually inspecting small defects and/or small parts, using measuring devices, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work frequently requires exposure to fumes or airborne particles and exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and occasionally requires wet, humid conditions (non-weather), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to outdoor weather conditions, exposure to the risk of electrical shock, exposure to vibration, wearing a self contained breathing apparatus and exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic). Work will be variable hours to include weekends and holidays based upon work load and schedule; follow the policy and procedures set forth by the CCACC. Will be required to perform all job tasks using Federal, State, County and CCACC safety guidelines and precautions. Stamina to work long hours and to multitask when needed or where applicable. Special Requirements •Must be fingerprinted and successfully pass a Criminal History Record Check with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations (NCSBI)•Must possess a valid North Carolina driver's license.
