Monday-Friday | Split Shift | 6 Hours Guaranteed Per Scheduled Workday DeSoto is actively hiring dependable and safety-focused School Van Drivers for fixed student transportation routes throughout the Tri-Valley Area. Drivers are responsible for safely transporting students from home to school and from school back home. We are looking for professional, dependable, and courteous individuals who are committed to providing safe transportation services. Compensation & Schedule $19 per hour starting Monday through Friday 6 hours guaranteed per scheduled workday Split-shift schedule Morning and afternoon school transportation routes Work hours may fall between approximately 6:00 AM and 5:00 PM, depending on the assigned route Responsibilities Safely operate an assigned passenger van Transport students between their homes and schools Follow assigned routes and pickup/drop-off schedules Ensure students properly use seat belts, safety vests, harnesses, or other required safety equipment Maintain a safe, clean, and professional environment inside the vehicle Communicate delays, incidents, accidents, mechanical issues, and safety concerns to dispatch Complete required vehicle safety inspections Follow company policies and applicable transportation and safety requirements Maintain professional communication with students, parents, school personnel, and dispatch Perform other job-related duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Applicants must: Possess a valid California driver's license in good standing Maintain a driving record acceptable under company and insurance requirements Be legally authorized to work in the United States Be dependable and punctual Have good communication and customer-service skills Be able to work professionally with students, parents, school personnel, and dispatch Successfully complete any legally required background checks, fingerprinting, driving-record checks, medical examinations, training, or other requirements applicable to the position, drug testing Physical Requirements With or without reasonable accommodation, drivers must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, including: Sitting and driving for extended periods Entering and exiting the van throughout the workday Bending, reaching, twisting, stooping, pushing, and pulling as reasonably required Moving safely between vehicle seats Assisting with student seating and safety equipment when required Handling equipment reasonably associated with student transportation duties Reasonable accommodations will be considered for qualified applicants and employees with disabilities as required by applicable law.
