This energetic role involves safely transporting passengers to and from school, childcare facilities, senior centers, or community programs while providing excellent customer service. Your dedication will help create a positive, secure environment for all passengers, fostering trust and peace of mind for families and caregivers alike. Responsibilities Safely operate passenger vans, including school buses, transit vehicles, or specialized transport vans, adhering to all traffic laws and transportation safety regulations. Assist passengers with boarding and alighting, including wheelchair assistance and accommodating mobility devices. Ensure the safety of all passengers by following emergency response procedures, vehicle codes, and child or senior care protocols. Maintain clear communication with dispatch or supervisors regarding route changes, traffic conditions, or passenger needs. Conduct pre-trip inspections to verify vehicle mechanical condition and cleanliness; report any issues promptly. Manage passenger behavior with professionalism and patience, applying behavior management techniques when necessary. Respond quickly to traffic changes or emergencies with calmness and efficiency to ensure passenger safety at all times. Skills Proven experience in bus driving, commercial driving, or transit bus operation with a strong understanding of traffic laws and transportation safety regulations. Excellent communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities. Knowledge of emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, CPR certification, first aid skills, and emergency stop procedures. Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting passengers or handling equipment; mechanical knowledge is advantageous for vehicle maintenance checks. Familiarity with school policies related to student discipline, childcare standards, senior care protocols, and child safety measures. Defensive driving skills combined with quick response capabilities to adapt swiftly to traffic changes or unexpected situations. Strong customer service orientation with the ability to manage behavior effectively while maintaining a positive attitude. Bilingual skills can enhance communication with non-English speaking passengers; experience working with children or seniors is highly valued.
