Job Description

Are you passionate about helping others and making a difference in your community? Apollo Medical Transport is seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team as NEMT Drivers. In this role, you will provide safe and reliable transportation for patients using wheelchairs and stretchers to and from hospitals, nursing facilities, homes, and doctor appointments.

Responsibilities:
Wheelchair Transport:

Assist patients into their wheelchairs and safely transport them to the van. Secure wheelchairs in the van and drive to the destination. Assist patients out of their wheelchairs at the destination and ensure they are safely checked in or settled.

Stretcher Transport:

Transport stretchers into facilities or homes, assist with patient transfers using sheets, and secure stretchers in the van. Perform similar assistance upon arrival at the destination. Ideally, candidates should be able to manage stretcher transport independently, though team assistance is available when needed.

Schedule:

Earliest pickups begin at 5:00 AM, and the latest pickups are at 7:00 PM. Most trips take about an hour, plus travel time back to the office. Expect to work as late as 9:00 PM on most days, with some days ending as early as 6:30 PM. Average start time is 9:30 AM at the office. Flexible schedules are available with at least 2 weeks' notice required for adjustments.

Compensation:

Hourly pay from the start of your shift until you drop off the van. Continuous pay even during periods without patients or trips.

Requirements:

Ability to assist a 250-pound person with mobility issues into wheelchairs. Physical capability to assist patients with mobility challenges (lifting not required). Must be 25+ years of age Must have drivers license for 2+ years, and a clean driving record

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to start before 9:30 AM and handle 5:00 AM pickups when needed. Experience with stretcher transport. Availability to work at least one weekend day.

Pay:

$15/hr for people without specific job experiance. We provide on the job training. $16/hr for people who are intimately familiar with the job, and have specific experience.

We transport patients who have isolation precautions, including but not limited to COVID, MRSA, Flu, Pneumonia, etc. Are you comfortable transporting these patients? Are you able to help transfer patients from hospital beds into wheelchairs and stretchers? Given the proper training, will you be physically able to do both of the following: Push and load a stretcher with a 300 lbs patient Push a wheelchair with a 400 lbs patient Are you able to hold 200-250 lbs at bellybutton height for 30 seconds? (Required for loading/unloading stretchers)
