Responsibilities Safely operate a 12-passenger van or bus in accordance with all traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations. Provide excellent customer service by assisting passengers with boarding, alighting, and wheelchair assistance when needed. Follow established routes and schedules accurately while responding quickly to traffic changes or unexpected delays. Ensure passenger safety by enforcing behavior management policies and maintaining order during transit. Conduct pre-trip inspections to verify vehicle condition, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and emergency equipment. Respond appropriately to emergency situations using CPR, first aid skills, and emergency stop procedures; communicate effectively with emergency responders if required. Assist with loading heavy items or mobility devices safely while adhering to safety protocols. Maintain accurate records of trips, passenger counts, incidents, and vehicle maintenance logs. Skills No traffic violations in the last 3 yrs, no accidents in the past 5 yrs. Proven experience driving buses or vans in compliance with school bus driving, transit bus operation, or commercial driving standards. Strong knowledge of traffic laws, transportation safety regulations, and emergency response procedures for transportation. Excellent communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse communities. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle mobility aids such as wheelchairs with care. Familiarity with student discipline policies and behavior management techniques. Local commercial driving laws relevant to passenger transportation. Demonstrated ability to respond quickly to traffic changes and adapt driving accordingly. Experience working with children or seniors is highly desirable to enhance passenger care quality. Valid driver's license appropriate for the vehicle. Strong writing skills for documentation purposes; attention to detail is essential for safety logs and incident reports.
