— Pilot Car Driver (Independent Contractor) Oversized / Heavy-Haul Escort Must live in or within 45 minutes of Indianapolis, IN Overview J&D Logistics Solutions is urgently hiring Pilot Car Drivers to escort oversized and heavy-haul semi loads. You run with the permitted load, keep the move legal and safe, and stay in constant contact with the truck and dispatch. This is an independent contractor role using your own vehicle. We provide the pilot-car signs CB and related escort equipment. No CDL required. Entry level accepted. After a first-week trial, work is consistent. Pay starts at $38/hr with room to grow. You must be willing to start immediately after a successful interview — typically within 2-3 days. We run background checks. Schedule Sunrise to sundown on scheduled days. You must be available the full day on days you are booked. This is not a split-shift or "run one short trip and go home" job. Responsibilities Escort oversized or heavy-haul loads on designated routes and follow all traffic laws, permit conditions, and safety standards Drive your own insured passenger car or pickup (13 years or newer) Use the signs and equipment we provide Navigate with GPS and adjust for construction, weather, and road conditions Stay in real-time contact with the semi driver, other pilots, traffic control, and dispatch by phone Watch clearances, flag hazards, and help the load through tight spots, turns, and traffic Represent the company professionally on the road Must have Live in or within 45 minutes of Indianapolis, IN Valid driver's license and clean driving record Pass a background check Reliable, insured personal vehicle, model year 13 years or newer Vehicle in presentable, road-ready condition — it does not need to be fancy, but it cannot be a rust bucket or a breakdown waiting to happen Working smartphone Great communication skills and a great attitude Must enjoy being on the road Available all day on scheduled days (sunrise to sundown) Willing to start immediately after interview (2-3 days) Ready to work ASAP Preferred / plus Route, shuttle, freight, or escort experience Comfort with GPS and coordinating with a truck and dispatch Not required CDL Prior pilot-car experience (entry level accepted) Pay and terms Independent contractor.
