Position Summary The Briarwood Community is seeking a friendly, dependable, and patient Per Diem Resident Transportation Driver to join our Transportation Team. This flexible position provides safe, courteous transportation for residents traveling to medical appointments, shopping trips, community programs, and other destinations. Our drivers do more than simply provide transportation. They help residents maintain their independence while ensuring a safe, comfortable, and welcoming experience.

Hours Per Week Schedule:
Flexible based on resident transportation needs, medical appointments, programs, and community outings. Key Responsibilities Provide safe, courteous, door-to-door transportation for Briarwood residents. Drive various Briarwood vehicles, including: Electric car Standard passenger van Large 14-passenger van Wheelchair-accessible van Transport residents to medical appointments, shopping trips, community programs, outings, and other scheduled destinations. Ensure residents safely reach appropriate entrances and destinations. Provide reasonable assistance and support when needed while encouraging resident independence. Safely secure walkers, wheelchairs, and other mobility devices during transport. Operate wheelchair lifts and securement systems following required training. Assist with groceries, packages, mobility equipment, meals, mail, supplies, and other deliveries as needed. Perform routine pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections. Maintain vehicle cleanliness, organization, and readiness. Communicate delays, schedule changes, vehicle concerns, and resident needs promptly. Follow all transportation schedules, safety procedures, and department guidelines. Who We're Looking For The ideal candidate is someone residents feel safe and comfortable with. We are seeking an individual who is: Positive, calm, and patient. Friendly and comfortable interacting with older adults. Dependable and punctual. Flexible and adaptable when schedules change. Comfortable following instructions and established procedures. A safe and confident driver. Comfortable operating vehicles of varying sizes. Observant and attentive to resident needs. Respectful of resident dignity and independence. Able to work independently while contributing to a team environment. Willing to assist with responsibilities beyond driving when needed. Previous professional driving experience is helpful; however, candidates with a strong driving history who demonstrate good judgment, reliability, patience, and a genuine desire to help others are strongly encouraged to apply. Qualifications Valid driver's license with a good driving record. Must meet Briarwood's automobile insurance eligibility requirements.
Ability to safely operate:
Electric vehicles Passenger vans 14-passenger vehicles Wheelchair-accessible vehicles Comfortable providing reasonable assistance to residents when needed. Ability to safely handle and secure walkers, wheelchairs, and mobility equipment. Willingness and ability to complete wheelchair lift and securement training. Comfortable using GPS and navigation systems. Ability to successfully complete required background and driver screening checks. Previous experience working with older adults or providing passenger transportation is preferred but not required.
