This vital role involves operating passenger vans with a focus on safety, customer service, and adherence to traffic laws. The Kidzone Van Driver will create a positive experience for children, parents, and staff while maintaining the highest standards of transportation safety regulations. Responsibilities Safely operate passenger vans, including school buses, transit buses, and paratransit vehicles, following all traffic laws and transportation safety regulations. Assist children with wheelchair assistance and ensure proper securement for mobility devices during transit. Follow emergency response procedures for transportation in case of accidents or incidents. Maintain clear communication with parents, staff, and emergency responders to coordinate pick-up and drop-off times efficiently. Conduct vehicle safety inspections before each shift, checking for mechanical issues, proper functioning of safety equipment, and cleanliness. Manage student behavior through effective discipline strategies while ensuring passenger safety at all times. Respond quickly to traffic changes or road hazards to ensure timely arrivals while prioritizing safety. Requirements Proven experience in bus driving, school bus driving, or commercial driving with a valid driver's license appropriate for passenger transport. Must be 21 for insurance purposes Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations at the state and local levels. Strong communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus for engaging diverse communities. Certification in first aid and CPR; training in emergency stop procedures is preferred. Ability to lift heavy objects safely when assisting with mobility devices or luggage. Experience working with children or in senior care environments is highly desirable. Familiarity with student discipline policies, behavior management techniques, and school policies related to transportation. Excellent defensive driving skills with the ability to respond quickly to traffic changes or unexpected road conditions. Knowledge of emergency response procedures specific to transportation scenarios.
