Duties Safely operate school buses and transit vehicles, including paratransit and wheelchair-accessible buses, following all traffic laws and transportation safety regulations Pick up and drop off students at designated stops while ensuring punctuality and safety at all times Assist students with boarding and exiting the vehicle, providing wheelchair assistance when needed Maintain a clean, well-maintained vehicle by conducting pre-trip inspections and reporting any mechanical issues promptly Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including CPR and emergency stop procedures Enforce student discipline policies to promote respectful behavior onboard and ensure passenger safety Communicate effectively with school staff, parents, and students using clear language in English or multilingual if applicable Respond quickly to traffic changes or road hazards to ensure timely arrivals while maintaining safety standards Skills Proven experience in bus driving, commercial driving, or transit bus operation with knowledge of vehicle codes and heavy lifting techniques Strong understanding of traffic laws, state and local commercial driving laws, and transportation safety regulations Excellent communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus for engaging diverse communities Ability to perform quick responses to traffic changes or emergencies while maintaining composure under pressure Knowledge of child behavior management, student discipline, and childcare practices to foster a positive environment onboard Proficiency in writing reports related to incidents or vehicle inspections accurately and clearly Experience working with children or seniors is preferred to enhance passenger care and safety efforts Embark on a fulfilling career where your driving skills help shape young lives!
