Duties Safely operate mortuary transport vehicles, including passenger vans and SUVs, on local routes and scheduled pickups. Assist with the manual handling of bodies, ensuring proper lifting techniques to maintain safety for yourself and others. Coordinate with funeral homes, hospitals, and families to arrange timely pickups and deliveries while maintaining clear communication throughout the process. Follow GPS navigation and route planning to ensure efficient transportation within designated areas while adhering to traffic laws and state transportation regulations. Maintain cleanliness, routine maintenance, and safety checks on all vehicles to ensure optimal operation and compliance with legal standards. Document all transports accurately in logs or digital systems, including pickup and delivery times, vehicle condition reports, and any incidents. Provide excellent customer service by demonstrating professionalism, compassion, and clear communication during interactions with clients and team members. Requirements Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; experience operating passenger vans, or medical transportation vehicles preferred. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and local driving routes to optimize efficiency. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling bodies or equipment involved in transportation tasks. Knowledge of traffic regulations, state transportation laws, and safety protocols related to passenger vehicle operation. Strong communication skills for client interaction and team coordination. Experience with vehicle maintenance routines or basic troubleshooting is a plus. Ability to work flexible hours as needed for scheduled pickups or emergency transports in accordance with client needs.
