Job Description

Safety Driver, Self-Driving Cars | 40 Hrs a week | W2 + Benefits | 3563876 Pave Talent Dallas, TX Job Details Full-time $25 an hour 1 hour ago Benefits Paid training Disability insurance Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off On-the-job training Vision insurance Employee discount Safety equipment provided Life insurance Qualifications Route driving Slack Highway driving Communication platforms Driver's License Collaborative technology platforms Performing background checks GPS devices Full Job Description Get paid $25 an hour, W2 with full benefits, to sit behind the wheel of a self-driving test car on Dallas roads. No CDL, no autonomous vehicle experience, and a real recruiter on the phone within one business day. Why drivers take this job Steady 40-hour weeks on one fixed shift you pick and keep, instead of chasing fares or routes. W2 employment with employer-subsidized health insurance, dental, vision, a 401(k), and fully employer-paid short and long-term disability and life insurance. Paid every Friday. A 12-month contract that keeps extending for the drivers who show up and drive by the book. You are trusted with a vehicle worth more than most houses, and an operations team watching the fleet has your back the whole shift. What you will do Run the pre-shift safety check and get the car ready. Drive the vehicle in autonomous mode on real Dallas streets, watch what it does, and take over the moment it needs you. Follow the intervention protocol exactly, on every drive. Note road events and give the engineers clear feedback that makes the system better. Handle basic in-car troubleshooting and software updates using the everyday tools you already know (GPS, Slack or Teams style messaging). Who does well here Delivery and route drivers: Amazon DSP, FedEx, UPS, medical courier, box truck, food and beverage routes. School bus, transit, paratransit, and shuttle drivers. CDL drivers who want to be home every night and off the road. Current or former autonomous vehicle or robotaxi operators. Security, armored transport, and transitioning military. Reliable shift workers from warehouses, production floors, and restaurants with a long, clean personal driving record who want a seat with benefits. Several of our current drivers came from exactly here. Rideshare and delivery-app drivers do well too, if you already drive with both hands on the wheel, come to full stops, and keep the phone put away. Who this is not for This is a driving job, not a tech or engineering job. If you are looking to write code or design screens, this is the wrong seat. If you roll stops, drive one-handed, speed, or drive with a phone in your hand, the road test will catch it. What you need A valid US driver's license held for at least 1 year, and a clean record: no DUI or drug or alcohol driving offenses in the last 5 years.
Driving experience:
3 or more years of professional driving, or 4 or more years of full-time rideshare or delivery driving, is the ideal. If you are short of that but have a long, clean personal driving record and a work history that shows up every day, apply anyway. The road test decides, not the resume.
Comfortable with everyday apps:
GPS, plus messaging tools like Slack or Teams. Willing to drive in all weather and on all road types, including highways. Able to pass a background check and drug screen. Authorized to work in the US for any employer. This role does not offer visa sponsorship. Local to the Dallas metro and able to work on site. No relocation. An Uber driver account in good standing, with no deactivations. If you do not have one yet, we walk you through setting it up. Uber requires drivers to be 25 or older. Pay, schedule, and shifts (all times Central) $25.00 per hour, W2, 40 hours per week. Five consecutive days a week, with weekend-inclusive options. AM shift 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. PM shift 4:30 PM to 1:00 AM. Dallas is still scaling, so some shift flexibility in your first months matters. You start on the shift you are hired for and keep it. New driver classes start on Mondays. On site in Dallas. The exact address is shared on the recruiter call. How hiring works, and why to apply through Pave Talent Apply here. A Pave Talent recruiter calls you within one business day. We walk you through the application and the motor vehicle record check, then book your video interview and your on-site drive test. About 70 percent of candidates fail that drive test, almost always on the same handful of avoidable habits. We tell you exactly what they are before you walk in, and we check in the day before and the morning of to make sure you are ready. We stay with you from application to first paycheck.
