Our team is committed to delivering exceptional customer service and is currently seeking experienced bus attendants with a demonstrated track record of working with students with special needs. Special Needs Driver The Special Needs Driver ensures safe, reliable, and compassionate transportation for students with diverse disabilities. This role goes beyond driving—it supports dignity, safety, and trust for children whose school journey depends on tailored care and respectful attention. Key Responsibilities Safely operate a school bus, van, or adapted vehicle in accordance with traffic laws and school district policies. Communicate clearly and kindly with students, parents, staff, and support personnel regarding transportation needs and concerns. Follow designated routes and schedules, adjusting to daily needs and unexpected changes. Conduct and document pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any concerns promptly. Maintain a calm and reassuring environment during transit, especially for students with sensory or emotional sensitivities. Uphold cleanliness and accessibility standards within the vehicle. Report mechanical issues to the service manager immediately to prevent operational disruptions. Respond appropriately to emergencies, using training in first aid, evacuation procedures, or behavioral de-escalation as needed. Participate in ongoing training related to disability awareness, student safety, and inclusive communication. Submit documentation for any incidents, observations, and student interactions. Accurately record trip details using the provided trip tickets daily. Qualifications Valid driver's license with appropriate endorsements (e.g., CDL with school bus certification, if applicable). Proven record of safe driving and reliability. Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting students with varying physical, emotional, and cognitive needs. Ability to follow safety protocols and respond effectively to unexpected situations. Willingness to undergo random drug screenings and background checks as required.
