Category Nursing - RN-ICU Job Type Travel A dynamic opportunity exists for an experienced ICU Registered Nurse specializing in adult critical care, offering the chance to work in a travel position within a robust acute care environment. This role focuses on delivering high-quality nursing care to a diverse patient population in a 33-bed intensive care unit, with an average daily census of 16 patients. Location Overview Shelton, NE offers a welcoming community atmosphere with access to local amenities and a pleasant living environment. The facility is situated within a 50-mile radius of candidate residences, ensuring a manageable commute and work-life balance. Key Responsibilities Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with complex conditions including trauma, cardiac events, stroke, sepsis, respiratory distress, and substance abuse. Administer and titrate cardiac drips, insulin, sedation, and other medications requiring close monitoring. Operate and troubleshoot respiratory equipment such as vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen delivery systems. Interpret and document cardiac telemetry strips; collaborate with telemonitoring techs for patient oversight. Collaborate with nurse aides and healthcare support techs to deliver coordinated patient care. Participate in unit-specific orientation and maintain compliance with policy, including nail care and licensure requirements. Adhere to scheduling parameters including every-other-weekend shifts, holiday coverage, and self-scheduling policies for travelers. Qualifications and Experience Valid RN license with critical care experience in an ICU setting.
Certifications required:
BLS, ACLS, NIH
Stroke Scale (NIHSS). Ability to titrate IV drips and manage specialized cardiac and respiratory interventions. Comfortable with telemetry monitoring and critical care documentation. Driver's license required upon submission; residency must be outside facilities affiliated with CommonSpirit Health systems to comply with radius rule. Candidates must pass a skills examination (open book, 90% passing score) during orientation. Schedule 12-hour shifts: 0630-1830 and 1830-0630. Weekend and holiday shifts are required on a rotating basis. Limited block scheduling permitted, primarily on weekends.
