This is a dynamic Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) role within a robust academic medical center, where you'll work within a 20-bay pediatric-focused unit that supports a diverse patient population. As part of a Level 1 Trauma and teaching facility, you'll broaden your nursing skills, collaborate with experienced professional teams, and witness a variety of workplace practices and leadership approaches unique to high-acuity settings. This assignment offers a significant boost to your resume—especially as you collaborate within an "all hands on deck" environment. Professionally, you'll enjoy meaningful exposure to innovative pediatric post-op care, specialty surgical procedures (excluding cardiac), and advanced resources including EPIC electronic medical records, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing systems. Supported by dedicated charge nurses, a PACU educator, 24/7 anesthesia coverage, and strong department teamwork, you'll be empowered to expand and refine your skills each day.
Schedule/Hours:
Flexible shifts within a fast-paced and supportive environment
Qualifications:
Active RN license, with BLS and PALS certifications 1+ year in pediatric critical care required; 2 years preferred At least one previous travel assignment completed Comfort with telemetry monitoring, managing common ICU drips, and caring for variety of pediatric post-op diagnoses Team-oriented, self-motivated, and adaptable
Responsibilities:
Provide post-anesthesia care for pediatric patients (occasional adult coverage as needed) Monitor patients, administer medications, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams Deliver safe, compassionate, and thorough nursing care in a teaching facility Utilize advanced monitoring and documentation technology
