Job Description

Category Nursing - RN-Stepdown Job Type Travel Advance your clinical skills and impact patient lives as an RN in a dynamic stepdown/progressive care environment on a 33-bed unit. This role focuses on providing comprehensive, high-quality patient care for a diverse cardiac, med-surg, and vascular patient population, including post-catheterization and post-pacemaker cases. Nurses in this contract role will collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams and play a vital part in patient assessment, care planning, intervention implementation, and ongoing evaluation.
Schedule & Assignment Length:
12-hour night shifts (PM) Every other weekend and every other holiday required 13-week contract
Qualifications & Required Experience:
Current RN license in practicing state or compact license Minimum of 2 years of recent stepdown/progressive care experience BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke certification required Successful completion of Dysrhythmia Exam (study guide provided) Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred Familiarity with Epic EHR, critical care course, and additional recognized certifications a plus
Responsibilities:
Conduct initial and continuous patient assessments, analyzing data to develop and adjust individualized plans of care Safely administer medications, manage drips (including Cardizem, Amio, Heparin, Insulin), and monitor airway needs (trachs, BiPAP, CPAP, high flow) Perform and verify telemetry strip readings once per shift using EPIC Coordinate patient care across departments and serve as an advocate for patient safety and quality outcomes Provide patient and family education and support, collaborating with ancillary staff Respond promptly and effectively to changes in patient condition, utilizing strong clinical judgment Practice in accordance with professional standards, policies, and infection control procedures Enjoy working with excellent resources including 1-3 PCAs, a unit secretary, and in-house phlebotomy support.
