Category Respiratory - Registered Respiratory Therapist Job Type Travel Tuscaloosa, AL combines the charm of a vibrant Southern city with the opportunity to work in a region renowned for its strong sense of community and rich history. This travel role in our dynamic Medical Respiratory Unit is ideal for Registered Respiratory Therapists eager to broaden their clinical expertise by working with a variety of acute and chronic respiratory cases. Our 42-bed unit specializes in patients needing treatment for pneumonia, COPD, and other pulmonary diseases, as well as medical cases including GI issues, diabetes, and occasional stroke care. Additionally, an 8-bed respiratory step-down area provides exposure to more critical care needs. Experience the professional growth that comes from floating to different units and even different hospitals within the system, working alongside diverse interdisciplinary teams, and participating in collaborative daily rounds. The structure here supports skill advancement, adaptability, and exposure to different leadership styles—and it looks impressive on any resume.
Schedule/Hours:
Choose 36 or 48 hours per week Every other weekend required Holidays as scheduled; flexibility appreciated
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
Associate degree in nursing (required) Valid Registered Nurse license with State of Alabama or Compact licensure (no temporary licenses) Current AHA BLS or Red Cross certification A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience preferred; will consider 18 months, with at least 1 year recent in respiratory specialty Willingness to float between units and hospitals
Responsibilities:
Support a nurse ratio of 1:6 on the main unit; 1:4 in the step-down Deliver respiratory therapy for acute and chronic conditions Participate in interdisciplinary daily rounds Care for a varied patient population, ensuring high-quality assessment and treatment
